Adidas Outdoor

Adidas approached us looking to improve their brand awareness and to establish themselves as a major player in outdoor sports. One of the ways they wanted to make this happen was to completely redesign the Adidas Outdoor eCommerce website. The ask was to provide an experience that would put the lives and culture within the outdoor sports community in the forefront, giving new contextual visibility into the product and relevancy to the brand.

As we began to familiarize ourselves with the brand assets, the tagline "any weather, every surface, all in," among other things, really spoke to us. The choice to use words like 'weather' and 'surface' resonated with us as a perfectly outdoorsy metaphor for a brand immersed in sport—evoking thoughts of a footwear brand that embraces all of life's ups and downs by diving in feet-first.

As we delved further into the brand assets, the underlying themes that had been introduced through the tagline were starting to become more tangible. We sorted through incredible images of climbers navigating jagged rock formations, hikers zigzagging through switchbacks, and ice axes penetrating frozen waterfalls. Instantly, we realized the need to capture as much of that magic as possible so that we could inject it back into the users' shopping experience. This would allow us to demonstrate that Adidas understands outdoor sports and the deeply invested customers, positioning them as an authentic participant who makes great products.
